The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital recently featured BESt in GIVING magazine. Thanks to The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital for sharing our story and for their continued commitment to investing in programs that build stronger communities through education and healthcare.

We are excited to return to WashU’s Danforth Campus for BESt 2026. This location allows the BESt program to offer students an unparalleled learning experience, in a world-class environment, while interacting with professionals from some of St. Louis’ premier organizations, including BJC Healthcare, Cigna Healthcare, and WashU.

Steven Player will take on the newly-created role of vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion for BJC HealthCare on November 1. The role was created to advance BJC’s mission to provide equitable, culturally aware care for all patients and ensure a diverse, culturally competent workforce.

The St. Louis Business Journal has selected Steven Player, PharmD, Barnes-Jewish Hospital executive director of diversity, inclusion and community engagement, for its 2020 class of Diverse Business Leaders.

Since its inception, the BESt pharmacy program has trained 300 St. Louis metropolitan area high-schoolers to be future healthcare professionals. Pictured are students from the 2016 summer cohort. The acronym “BESt” represents the three institutions that dedicate their resources to the program: Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Express Scripts, and St. Louis College of Pharmacy.

Every summer, a group of talented multicultural high school students from the St. Louis area participates in a program called the BESt Pharmacy Summer Institute. Meant to prepare these young people for future careers in pharmacy, the program exposes them to the profession in order to build a diverse pipeline of pharmacists to serve an increasingly diverse community.

This new website will help us attract, prepare, and support some of our regions most valuable and promising individuals.
