BESt Pharmacy Program Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Since its inception, the BESt pharmacy program has trained 300 St. Louis metropolitan area high-schoolers to be future healthcare professionals. Pictured are students from the 2016 summer cohort. The acronym “BESt” represents the three institutions that dedicate their resources to the program: Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Express Scripts, and St. Louis College of Pharmacy.
BESt Prepares Underrepresented Students for Careers in Pharmacy

Every summer, a group of talented multicultural high school students from the St. Louis area participates in a program called the BESt Pharmacy Summer Institute. Meant to prepare these young people for future careers in pharmacy, the program exposes them to the profession in order to build a diverse pipeline of pharmacists to serve an increasingly diverse community.

Put Your Best Foot Forward

Alice Opoku is trying to put her best foot forward – “Well I just wanted an intro to the medical field,” says the Rockwood Summit sophomore. “It’ll look good on my college applications. And then I will have the introduction and I’ll do better at school with the courses I’m taking here.”
